How to Dress With Style.

Let's face it, we all secretly want to be style icons. The world of fashion is fun and exciting, and although it can be intimidating for a newbie, it's a world we all want to be a part of. Developing your own sense of style may seem difficult, but with a little guidance, it's not as hard as it may seem.

Part 1 Having Confidence.

1. Show your attitude and personality. Dressing with style is about more than the clothing; it is about how you carry yourself. If you carry yourself with confidence, your fashion statement will be heard loud and clear. If you're uncomfortable in what you're wearing, it will show. After all, confidence is the best accessory one can wear.

2. Create your trademark. You can create a memorable trademark by accentuating the parts of your body or personality traits that you love about yourself. We all want to be remembered by something great, and creating your personal trademark is a great way to define yourself.

For example, if you're quirky and outgoing, make bright and unique jewelry your trademark.

If you love your naturally beautiful dark hair and tan skin, accentuate these features by making your trademark a deep red lip color.

3. Embrace and define your personal style. Your choice of clothing is a reflection of who you are, including what you're interested in, your inspirations, and your aspirations. The more connected you are to your personal style, the more confident you'll appear. Incorporating your favorite music, hobbies, and goals will help you truly connect with your style.

Say you're interested in metal bands. Incorporate your favorite band t-shirts into your wardrobe. Dress up your metal tee with your favorite jeans and heels for a stylish look that's completely you.

If you aspire to be a corporate CEO, dress the part! Incorporate power suits or sleek dresses into your weekly wardrobe. Dressing to your goals will bring out your inner confidence.

Part 2 Observing and Imitating.

1. Observe others to find inspiration. Fashion is all around you, so look at how other people dress. Study what clothing they're wearing, what colors they're mixing, what shoes they pair with which accessories. When you see an outfit that you like, figure out why you like it.

For instance, is it the overall vibe of the look (e.g., preppy, hippy bohemian, rockstar inspired), is it the general color scheme of the outfit, or is it a specific piece (e.g., a great cut jacket, the perfect pair of jeans)?

2. Imitate outfits that you love. After all, imitation is the greatest form of flattery! Yes, developing a unique sense of style is important, but if you're a complete beginner, imitating others can be a extremely helpful. Find an outfit you love and copy it, then keep the parts of the outfit that work for you, and change the aspects of the outfit that don't.

If you've found an outfit you love, but the colors don't look good on you, find similar pieces in a more flattering color scheme.

3. Use Pinterest as a style tool. Create a Pinterest board of your ideal style, and pin your favorite looks to it. Study your board, and look for patterns of what you see as stylish, then figure out how to add that style to your look.

If you find yourself pinning a lot of preppy, nautical themed looks, it's evident that you're drawn to that style. Find your favorite pieces on your Pinterest board, and add them to your wardrobe. Study your Pinterest board for ideas how to style your new wardrobe.

4. Follow fashion blogs and magazines to get new style ideas. Read a variety of magazines, from Vogue to Cosmopolitan, to get a variety of looks and outfit concepts. Getting inspiration from high fashion and street fashion will help you discover what style means to you.

Spend some time scrolling through Instagram to find a few fashion bloggers you connect with. Once you've found a few bloggers you admire, study how they build outfits and where they shop to help you recreate their looks.

5. Pay attention to trends. Your style doesn't always have to follow trends, but paying attention to them will keep you knowledgeable about new fashion, and could give you some new ideas to revamp your wardrobe.

Some trends you'll love, and others you'll hate. Don't feel pressured to follow any trends you don't like, but allow yourself to be inspired by the trends that you admire. Use trends as a tool to refresh your existing wardrobe.

6. Get out of your comfort zone to discover your true style. Discovering your personal style takes some experimenting; finding what you like, and what you don't like. Research by seeking out new styles, colors, and silhouettes that are outside your comfort zone. Once you've experimented, you'll be able to create your personal style based on what you've learned about your fashion likes and dislikes.

Part 3 Wearing What Looks Good on You.

1. Discover which colors work best with your complexion. We all have surface tones and undertones. Surface tones are how we typically describe our own complexions, and can be ivory, light, medium, tan, dark, etc. Your skin’s undertone is the color beneath the surface. The three different undertones are: cool (pink, red or bluish undertones), warm (yellow, peachy, golden undertones), neutral (a mix of warm and cool undertones). There are a few different ways to determine your skin's undertone.

Check your veins to discover your undertone. Look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. If they're more blue, you likely have cool undertones. If they look greenish, you have warm undertones.

Use the jewelry trick to learn your undertone. Do you look more radiant in silver or gold? If you typically look better in silver, you have a cool undertone, whereas gold usually looks best on a warm undertone.

Determine how your skin reacts to the sun. Do you get a golden brown tan, or turn pinkish and burn in the sun? If you fit into the former, you’re warm-toned, while cool undertones tend to burn (fair skin will simply burn, while medium-skinned undertones will burn, then tan.)

2. Find which colors look best on you. If you have a warm undertone, you should lean toward yellows, oranges, browns, yellow-greens, ivories , and warm reds. If you have cool undertones, you should wear blues, greens, pinks, purples, blue-greens, magentas, and other blue-based reds.

3. Choose a silhouette that best complements your figure. It is important to dress for your body type! Every body is different, and what looks great on one person may not look as good on another. Flattering your shape is a crucial part of looking and feeling confident with your personal style.

Triangle/pear body shape: You have a slim upper body and waist, with curvy hips and legs. Wear bright colors, layers, and accessories on top to attract attention. Wear slimming, lengthening bottoms, such as skinny jeans or bootcut pants in darker colors. This will balance out your body beautifully.

Circle body shape: You have slim legs and shoulders, and a soft, round middle area. Covering your body in layers can make you look bigger. Instead, create a slimming effect by adding angles and lines across your figure with wrap dresses or asymmetrical hemlines. You should also try dresses with rushing in the middle to hide your tummy and create an hourglass effect. Try a straight leg or bootcut pant, and wear a heel to show off your legs.

Hourglass body shape: You have curvy breasts and hips, and a slim waist. Embrace your silhouette with snug fitting tops and bottoms. Wear tiny belts to accentuate your waist, and avoid excessive layering and draping. Skinny leg pants and pencil skirts are especially flattering, and show off your figure.

Athletic body shape: You have a naturally sporty shape, and appear more fit than curvy. Your body type can appear boxy with the wrong clothing, so try wearing delicate, feminine fabrics and shapes to compliment your figure. Tops with thin straps, light fabrics such as silk and lace, and high waisted or wide legged pants are flattering on you.

Inverted triangle shape: You have broad shoulders, a trim waist and hips, and nice legs. Amplify your lower body to match the fullness of your shoulders; wide-leg pants or long skirts can create balance. Simple and soft tops feminize your strong upper body.

Men's fashion caters to a variety of body types as well. Like women's fashion, it is all about the balance. For example, If you have a smaller upper body, layer with sweaters or blazers.

4. Buy in multiples. Once you find colors and shapes that work well for you, multiply! There's no need to question what works for you, just go with it. For example, if a particular dress looks amazing on you, buy it in a few colors. If you found your perfect pair of jeans, buy a few pairs.

5. Dress your age. Though there are no set guidelines, certain styles are more appropriate for certain ages.

Your 20s are all about self-discovery. Whether you're a party animal, a business entrepreneur, or a free spirit, it's important to experiment with fashion to discover what style fits you best. Your 20s are the time to have fun with short dresses and bold jewelry, or wild bow-ties and ripped jeans.

In your 30s, your life is finally starting to fall into place. You're becoming comfortable being yourself, and aren't as worried about following the hottest new trends. Your 30s are the years of adding your touch of flair to wardrobe staples and classic pieces. You should have a few nice suits or dresses in your closet, and be able to dress them up with unique cuff links or one-of-a-kind pumps.

When you've reached your 40s, it's time to start pampering yourself. Spoil your closet with a beautiful gown or a nice cashmere sweater. As you mature, allow your closet to do the same.

You've made it to your 50s, meaning you've reached the age of fun and eccentric fashion! You've lived, you've learned, and now it's time to let your confidence shine through. Keep it comfortable with practical pieces, while accessorizing with bright sunglasses and costume jewelry.

You've experimented with fashion, and in your 60s you know what you love. It's time to let your statement pieces shine: a fur coat, a phenomenal handbag, and all of your diamonds.

Part 4 Owning Fashion Staples.

1. Stock up on the basics. Every woman needs a nice, black winter coat, a plain white tee, a nice pair of black pants, and a great pair of jeans in a dark wash. Get a comfy pair of sneakers and and a good pair of heels in a neutral color. A little black dress is also a must, as is a trenchcoat and a versatile pair of sunglasses.

Mix and match these items with other garments you own to create the perfect look for any occasion. You can dress the pieces up or down depending on what you pair them with.

For instance, pair the jeans, white tee, and sneakers for running errands on the weekend. Wear the black pants and heels with a nice blouse and the trenchcoat to work.

2. Choose your classic shoe. Whether you're into signature black pumps, a fun pair of flats, or a classic and simple sneaker, your go-to shoe should be well-designed, versatile, and timeless. Your classic shoe should go with almost everything, and always give you that sense of comfort and confidence.

3. Have a go-to lip color. The little things are what make us unique. You don't need to wear your favorite lip color everyday, but a signature color can be the perfect accent to your personal style. Find a lip color that works for you and keep it constant in your makeup rotation.

4. Get yourself a signature handbag. Invest in a handbag that will go with everything, but will never go out of style. Of course it's great to have multiple bags for different occasions, but a signature bag is your go-to. For men, find yourself a signature watch or wallet.

5. Go for the perfect accent. Accessories and accents make the outfit, no matter how big or small. Whether it's a small charm bracelet you never take off, or a show-stopping pair of diamond earrings for special occasions, the right accessories will go a long way.

Don't over accessorize. Allow your accent pieces to shine, there's no need to load up on a lot of accessories.

The right necklace will transform a simple dress into a stylish look. The perfect hat will bring your T-shirt and jeans to life.

6. Pick a personal scent. Even if you're not a perfume girl, find a lotion or body wash that you absolutely love. If you're not big on cologne, choose a go-to deodorant or aftershave. This may seem insignificant, but a nice scent isn't a bad way to be remembered.

7. Keep in mind that black is always in style. Trends come and go, but the classic little black dress will never fade. When in doubt about colors, patterns, and/or prints, go with a gorgeous solid black. It looks good on everyone, but you can always make it your own.

Question : I have a brown knit dress with a mid calf circular skirt and a cow neckline. I like it but it seems out of style. Can I wear it the way it is or do a need to alter it somehow so it won't be dated?
Answer : Don't be afraid of being "out of style" - fashion is always changing, "out of style" quickly becomes vintage chic, etc. and it's great to stand out and be unique. I feel like this outfit would look good with a scarf or some pearls.

Question : What kind of a top will go with a fat belly?
Answer : Anything that tapers right below the breast, and not at the waist, should work. It will flow out, giving the illusion of no large belly, and hiding any fattier areas you may not feel comfortable to show.

Tips.

Find yourself some fashion buddies. Bouncing style ideas off of friends while going shopping or getting dressed can be a great way to discover your personal style.

Find a good tailor! Alterations are fairly inexpensive and tailor clothing to fit your body perfectly.

Style does not equate to money. You can find great clothing anywhere, your fashion sense is what makes it stylish.

How to Look Beautiful if You Have a Fuller Figure.

Fuller figure women do not have to be reminded that it is sometimes more challenging to dress well. The fashion world almost seems to forget that women come in all sizes. But that does not mean you cannot or should not look terrific. To make the most of your beautiful, fuller-figure, here are some ways to show off your fuller figure to its best advantage.

Steps.

1. Wear clothes that fit. Shopping for larger clothes can be challenging. It is easy to give up and settle for wearing something that sort of fits. Very skinny women are all more or less the same proportions, and these are often the fashion models that designers base clothing sizes on. Larger women tend to be more diverse in body proportions. The scaling-up clothing designers attempt often fails completely unless the designers are competent and knowledgeable about plus-sizes.

You may need to find stores that specialize in larger sizes. In America, for example, Lane Bryant has been providing clothing for larger sizes for decades.

Better department stores may have areas dedicated to full-figured clothing. However, usually this is for mature women, not so much adolescents or children.

Online shopping may be your best bet if you have no specialty clothing stores nearby. Just be sure that you consult sizing charts--what is 4X in one brand may be a 2X in another.

Make use of a seamstress. Since full-figured women vary so much, proper tailoring is important. Being able to take in a seam can turn an almost-right piece of clothing into just-right.

2. Wear clothing that is current and fashionable. It is one thing to find well-fitting plus-sized clothing, but sometimes the styling is sorely lacking. This is often especially true if you are a young adult, and want to wear junior's fashions and not items designed for a middle-aged woman. Follow the advice give for fitting above, plus:

Do not settle. It is very tempting to "give in" and wear clothes you really do not like. But fashionable larger clothing exists...you just may have to look longer and harder than other women. The extra work is worth it.

You deserve pretty clothes! The fact that it is so difficult to find fashion-forward larger clothing sends a very strong, subtle message: That you do not deserve to look or feel pretty, just be grateful it just fits. But that is no more correct than it is for any other woman. You have every right to look and feel great, no matter what your weight is!

The clothes are meant to flatter you, not the other way around. All too often, women are made to feel if they do not look good in a clothing item, that it is somehow due to a personal failure. If you do not like how the pants look, that is because there is something not right about the pants...not that there is something wrong with you. Even models do not necessarily look right in every piece of clothing.

3. Emphasize your best features. Full-figured women sometimes spend so much effort concealing, they forget to accent the positive as well. Every woman has features that is worth showing off. Do you have great hair, shapely legs, flawless skin, a curvy figure? Choose styles that show off these features.

4. Shop by what fits your body, not by what the size label says. Women have been taught to feel good wearing small size, but bad if the size is larger. This is ridiculous. You will look and feel better if what you wear fits appropriately, no matter what the tag says.

Sizing for clothing pieces vary by designer, manufacturer, whether the clothing is for juniors, or misses, or women, and even what country the company is in. A size "16" or "XXL" or "2x" means essentially nothing.

Try on the same piece in two or three sizes, and choose the one that flatters your body the most.

Sometimes things are mis-labelled. In all clothing, occasionally one factory makes an error cutting something, or the labels may get mixed up. This happens once in a while especially at discount clothing stores. Once in a while, two items labelled the same size do not fit the same.

5. Buy appropriate undergarments. Larger women sometimes completely give up on finding the right undergarments, and just settle for "something"--but in fact, well-fitting undergarments make a huge difference for full-figured women. Supportive bras, panties, and other shaping items like Spanx not only feel great when well-fitted but also make you look more "put together".

Get fitted for a bra. Many women think they know what bra fits properly, but in truth, are often way off. Many department stores and better lingerie stores are exceptionally helpful in determining if a bra fits or not.

Invest in bras that fit. A-cup women can go around with flimsy (or no) bras, but not so women with bountiful bosoms! Good bras are inevitably more expensive than cheap ones, however. But good bras will typically be longer-lasting, support better, and feel better.

6. Consider getting undergarments that smooth and shape. Even if you do not wear shapewear every day, it is a confidence booster. This not only helps clothes fit better but boosts confidence! No more underwear lines, hooray!

7. Carry yourself with confidence. Be happy with who you are; this is more important and speaks louder than your clothes or size ever will. A skinny girl with a sour attitude and poor self-esteem is just not as beautiful as a young lady that is well dressed and wearing a smile.

8. Add accessories. Larger women can carry off accessories that may "overwhelm" a smaller frame. For example, a big, chunky necklace might look over-sized on a thin woman, but be able to be pulled easily by a large one.

Difficult-to-shop-for sized women often must be very selective and deliberate in shopping, so the number of items in the wardrobe may be smaller. Accessories can give more variety in the wardrobe without having to worry about size as much as one would in buying something like a shirt.

Remember that not all accessories are clothing. Things like handbags, shoes, belts, are all things to consider in an outfit.

9. Be daring, or be conservative. Some people seem to have the notion that if you are heavier, you somehow cannot or should not wear what you want to wear. It is true that some trends (like spaghetti-strap tank tops) may not be a first choice for larger women. But most trends are fine for women of all sizes. For instance, if you really like those leopard print tights, wear them, no matter if you are size 12 or 22!

Darker colors are generally more slimming. But a wardrobe of dark, drab colors is not flattering.

Do not be afraid of color. A great color looks great on anyone, regardless of size. Using color can bring the eye to features you want to highlight.

10. Try trends that are friendly to larger sizes.

Wear a straight-up-and-down or boot-cut jeans or pant. These will take the emphasis off your hips and butt and compliments curves.

Pointy-toed shoes and boots tend to make legs seem longer and you look thinner overall.

Opt for longer shirts. When the hem of the shirt falls a few inches below a woman's natural waistline, the overall effect smooths the stomach.

Try dresses that gather under the bust. For many larger women, dresses with an empire-style bust de-emphasizes the stomach and shows off a lovely bust.

11. When shopping for evening wear, remember that you aren't limited to just dresses! Try a black dress pant paired with a bright top and great shoes. If you do decide to go with a dress, make sure it fits! Strapless can be tricky for a bigger bust, so be careful.A tulip skirt can also do wonders on a plus-size lower half.

Things You'll Need : A positive attitude, Good, strong, supportive friends.

How to Dress Well.

Ready to upgrade your wardrobe? Dressing well will make you look and feel confident and energetic. No matter what your budget is, you can take steps to upgrade your appearance. Note: this article is aimed primarily at women. Tips on how to dress well for men are available here.

Part 1 Knowing What Flatters.

1. Focus on fit. If clothes fit poorly, no matter how attractive or fashionable you will not look well-dressed. Tight clothes look cheap and make you look heavy. Clothes that are too large will make you look sloppy.

Just because you can get into the clothing does not mean it necessarily fits properly.

How an item is supposed to fit depends also on styling. For instance, urban style clothing for men in the United States are often very loose fitting compared to a pair of conservative khakis.

Dresses can be difficult to fit properly because most women wear different sizes in tops and bottoms. Dress fit well if the neckline lies flat whether you are sitting or standing, All seams should lay flat and straight (unless perhaps the styling is purposefully not in that way). The material shouldn't pull or pucker around the chest or hips. The garment should fit snug but not tight.

If you’ve gained or lost weight recently, evaluate your wardrobe. Discard or alter clothes that no longer fit correctly.

2. Each individual is different, but most women fall into the apple, pear, banana, or hourglass categories.

Apple-shaped women carry weight around their middles. These women look best in A-line dresses and clothing that emphasize the bust and legs while de-emphasizing the waist.

Pear-shaped women are smaller on top and larger in the hips and thighs. They look best in A-line dresses, layered tops, and simple, darker-colored bottoms.

Banana-shaped women are slim all over. These women look good in most clothing. They can highlight their shape by wearing clothes that create curves: Flared pants, cinched waistlines, and tapered jackets accomplish this feat.

Hourglass-shaped women have slim waists and full hips and breasts. They look great in tailored pieces and wrap dresses.

3. Learn which colors look best on you. Look at the veins inside your wrist. Do they look green or more blue?

If they look green, you have a skin tone with a yellow base. Warm colors will look better on you. Try off-white, red, yellow, orange, and brown, as well as yellow-tinted greens and blues. Avoid pastels.

If they look blue, you have a skin tone with a pink base. Cooler colors will look better on you. Try white, pastels, and jewel tones.

When in doubt, stick to mostly neutral colors. Black, gray, and brown look fabulous on nearly everyone. Add pops of brighter color here and there – a bright blue necklace or a deep red belt, for example – to make outfits look interesting.

4. Dress your problem areas appropriately. Many women have areas that they do not really like to show off--even fashion models have this issue! Also, if you are following a modest dress code or prefer to do so, buy items that do not bring focus to areas that you would rather not. For example, if you are uncomfortable showing your legs, avoid buying mini-skirts.

5. Focus on classic, rather than trendy, styles. Dress your body in attractive, flattering clothes that work for your figure. Sometimes today's trends will do this, and sometimes it is wiser to not do so. Forcing yourself into certain colors, cuts, and styles because the fashion magazines are featuring them will not make you well dressed. Wear what suits you best.

But be willing to experiment! You may be surprised by how a new style may flatter your appearance.

Be careful about taking fashion magazines at face value. Very often, they are trying to "sell" you on certain styles, brands, and so on more than they are actually reporting on what is fashion.

Fashion can also be very regional. What is in style in Taiwan may or may not be what is cool in Brazil.

6. Comfort. Your efforts to look good will be undermined by uncomfortable shoes that make you teeter around in pain or constrictive clothes that you’re constantly shifting and adjusting. Wear clothes that make you look and feel sublime.

7. Take care of your clothes. Always read labels and follow the instructions for laundering clothes properly – this will make your clothes look good for a long time.

Iron your clothes if necessary. No one looks well-dressed in wrinkled clothes.

Flared pants and tapered jackets are most flattering to women with what body shape? Apple, Pear, Banana, Hourglass, All of the above.

Part 2 Developing a Personal Style.

1. Express yourself. Indulge your own special, personal style. If you’re a girly girl, feel free to wear dresses every day. If you are more of a tomboy, choose jeans. If you are preppy, dress that way. If you like bohemian, dress that way. Authenticity is attractive.

2. Add interest with accessories. When you have a sense of what looks best on you, you can enhance your look with fun choices that express your individuality.

If you like bright colors, wear them! Wear your charcoal skirt and cream-colored top that looks fabulous and work-appropriate, and add red kitten heels or a multi-colored bracelet.

If you like bold jewelry, wear something amazing every day! Big hoop earrings can add interest to jeans and a t-shirt. A statement necklace can quickly make a basic work outfit fabulous.

3. Spend some time looking at fashion magazines or apparel websites. The point isn’t to pick an image and emulate it. It’s to compare the tremendous variety that is available, and to discover inspiring looks. If you consistently like certain styles or colors, then you’ll know what to look for – you just need to adapt whatever you like to suit your figure and coloring.

4. Develop classic looks for various aspects of your life. Having a repertoire of outfits that fit well and suit your style will serve you well. Develop a rotation of looks for work, for the weekend, for dressy events, and for anything else that you need regularly. Then you’ll be able to approach all these situations with confidence.

5. Dress appropriately for your age. Women who dress too old or too young look inappropriate. Whatever you age, embrace it! Instead of aiming to look older or younger, aim to look like the most fabulous you.

6. Take calculated risks. Don't mix all kinds of crazy patterns and colors into a single outfit. But remember, it’s fine to try something new and different. The key to dressing well is to wear your clothes with confidence.

Try, for example, combining neutral colors with one animal-print item -- something like a bright leopard-print blouse under a black cardigan.

Alternatively, you can try wearing a risky-seeming, fashion-forward item, but keeping the rest of your look comparatively understated. If you're in love with the enormous shoulder pads you saw featured at fashion week, try them! Just pair them with something slim and neutral on the bottom, and stay away from bold accessories.

Why is it useful to spend time looking at fashion magazines?

So you're aware of the range of styles that are possible, So you can figure out what looks good on you, So you can keep up with what's current.

Part 3 Updating Your Wardrobe.

1. Clean your closet. Toss anything that doesn’t fit, clothing you haven’t worn in two years, and anything else that’s in poor condition. Doing so will free up space for new, more functional pieces.

Don’t toss those clothes into a dumpster. Donate them to charity or give them to friends or relatives. If they are in decent condition, consider trying to sell them.

2. Figure out what you need. After you’ve gotten rid of the junk, evaluate your wardrobe clearly and identify what’s missing. Your needs will depend on your individual lifestyle, but in general, you want to make sure you have:[8]

blouses and casual shirts, button-down shirts, pull-over sweaters, pants – at least one pair of jeans and at least one pair of trousers.

casual dresses, casual skirts, a jacket for cool weather (and one for even colder weather, if you live where it gets cold).

at least one or two semi-formal or formal dresses, shoes – at least one pair for workouts and one or two each for casual, business, and dressy outfits.

3. Make a game plan. Once you know what you need, it’s time to shop! But don’t just rush to the mall. You'll save time if you research some popular online stores first. If you don’t see what you like, move on – save time by shopping at stores that fit your lifestyle.

4. Try on clothing whenever possible. It’s tempting to simply order clothes online, but you’ll have better luck if you head out to the stores that seem promising and try clothes on. Sizes vary considerably from retailer to retailer, and it’s hard to know what will flatter you without seeing a garment on your body.

5. Spend your money wisely. If your budget is smaller, start browsing at lower-priced retailers. There’s no reason to spend too much – as long as a garment is well made and fits properly, you will look fantastic. That said, you don’t necessarily want the cheapest clothing available. If it wears out after two weeks or falls apart in the washing machine, it’s no bargain.

Do some additional research online and try to hit stores when they are having sales. This can allow you to pick up higher-end items for bargain-basement prices.

Invest in a few key pieces that you will get a lot of mileage from – like a sublime pencil skirt for work or a classic black dress. Spend less on trendier items that you won’t wear for long.

Don’t be afraid to comparison shop. Before you buy something, see if an online retailer has the same item for a lower price.

Question : What goes with pink?
Answer : Darker, toned down colors can be great complements to bright colors like pink. Consider pairing it with grey, black, or dark blue tones.

Question : Can I wear a gray shirt with black and white shoes?
Answer : Yes, you can.

Question : Can I wear a short patterned mini skirt with a long jumper?
Answer : Actually, that's a trend! Just look it up. It feels weird, but it looks cute! If you are still uncomfortable though, try swapping the skirt for skinny jeans or leggings.

Question : How do I upgrade my normal outfits without going too far?
Answer : Getting a nice jacket or a few pairs of nice pants can do a lot to bring an outfit up to the next level without being too jarring. I would also suggest adding some new accessories into your fashion rotation.

Question : Can I wear blue Adidas pants with a black Adidas sweater?
Answer : It depends on what shade of blue the pants are, because some blues don't work with blacks. Lighter blues typically look fine, but if they are leaning towards green, it doesn't work that well. You generally want to stay with bright tops and darker or more neutral pants.

Question : I typically wear skinny jeans with loose tops and Converse/Vans. Is that okay?
Answer : That's a fine look for a student. It's pretty basic. A jacket or a belt and a nice pair of boots can help upgrade your look.

Question : What goes with a sexy dress?
Answer : Try a necklace, some high heels, and maybe some tights. Bright red lipstick also looks good.

Question : Can I wear dots with stripes?
Answer : In most cases, yes. If they are very wild patterns, it might look a little busy, but if you think it looks good, don't worry about it.

Question : Can I wear a zebra-striped skirt with a plain brown shirt?
Answer : No. A zebra shirt matches with a plain white shirt and black shoes. Try some accessories for color.

Question : Can I wear a dress and Vans?
Answer : Yes. You can wear whatever you want. It might be better to wear more classic shoes like flats, but Vans and a dress are also probably cute.

Tips

If you don't know what to wear, consult a close friend or relative. The people who know you best will usually know what looks best on you.

Feel good about yourself. That way, your inner beauty and confidence will shine through, no matter how you look.

How to Dress in Your 20s.

Your 20s are a time when you are finally becoming your own person. Your sense of fashion should reflect that. Unfortunately for some, the question of how of how to dress remains a mystery. There's often a pull between wanting to be seen as professional, and wanting to be seen as a unique individual. Knowing how to dress during these youthful years comes more easily for some than others, but there's always something you can do to make yourself look better.

Part 1 Covering the Basics.

1. Dispense with your teenage clothing. At some point, everybody needs to grow up. This should apply to your wardrobe as well. If you want to dress well throughout your 20s, consider getting rid of some of the clothes you had as a teen. You are a different person now than you were then, and the fashions have definitely changed.

It's a better idea to donate old clothing rather than throwing it out. Someone else may still get good use out of it.

If you don't want to donate your clothing, consider selling it online, at a yard sale, or to a consignment shop.

When you're at a second-hand store or consignment shop, you can pick out clothes that better suit you.

2. Clean your clothes regularly. Even if you have the best set of clothes, you'll be giving off the wrong impressions if you don't take care of maintenance. Wearing clean clothes makes you look more desirable and professional. Make a regular habit of using the washing machine or hitting up the laundromat. Staying clean is a good look regardless of the style you choose for yourself.

Make sure to wash clothing according to their type. Check labels if you're unsure.

Keeping your clothes clean is especially important if it's hot outside. Your sweat can leave stains and unpleasant odors.

3. Keep shoes in mind. Although girls already tend to put an emphasis on what they wear on their feet, guys often see shoes purely as a thing of comfort. This shouldn't be the case if you want to dress well. Although shoes may not have been a big thing in high school, everyone from potential dating prospects to employers will judge you in part based on footwear.

Generally speaking, you should have at least two pairs of shoes. One should be casual (such as sneakers), while the other should be more aesthetically based. While one is worn primarily for comfort, the other prioritizes fashion. While many people try to get by with the comfort wear alone, shoes can make or break an impression in social settings.

Shoes are especially important if you're the athletic type. It's recommended you get a few different pairs of shoes to serve different purposes and situations.

4. Diversify your wardrobe. At this age, you'll need to prepare for a wide range of possible scenarios, both formal and casual, for business and pleasure alike. Men should consider buying a full suit. Women should buy a few dresses that would fit a formal occasion.

If you're going to be on the lookout for work soon, you should buy clothing for the interview, as well as a few sets of clothes to wear at the workplace itself.

5. Dress to suit your occasion. When you were younger, you could slip by in casual wear for most every circumstance. As an adult, things are a bit different. You can't rely on a single style or outfit to get you through every circumstance. Rather, a really well-dressed and self-aware individual will dress himself based around the situation he's planning for.

It goes without saying that you should dress well for a funeral or a wedding, but the same goes for less formal social situations as well.

There is also a risk of overdressing for a relatively casual occasion. Although it's arguably not as bad as coming underdressed, you'll still end up sticking out in a bad way.

6. Enlist the help of a tailor. In your 20s, it's a good idea to make connections with people who will make sure you look your best. Many people have years-long relationships with these fashion professionals. The sooner you start, the sooner they'll have you looking good, and the quicker they'll know exactly what you're looking for in a style.

The same advice should apply to finding a hairstylist. Hair is an important part of any fashion, so it makes sense to invest in it.

Part 2 Finding a Style that Suits You.

1. Scope out fashion for ideas. As a general rule, the fashion ideas promoted in magazines should be seen as a springboard for your own decisions, rather than a total authority on what you should or shouldn't wear. With that said, it doesn't hurt to look at a few magazines and see what kind of stuff is considered hot these days. Although you're already familiar with seeing other people's outfits in your day-to-day life, it's less common to see people who really know how to bring out the best in their features. Fashion magazines are perfect for this, and looking into one or two will set you on the right path.

Some fashion magazines specialize in a certain type of fashion. If you already have an inkling where your tastes lie, don't be afraid to make a more specialized choice.

2. Aim for form-fitting clothing. For most people in their 20s, this will be the best physical shape of their lives. It's a good idea to dress so as to maximize this fact. Clothing should be all about decorating and showcasing the body. Choose clothing that is going to flatter your shape. Depending on your gender, you probably fall into a common body type. The clothing you choose should try to even out your figure.

Clothing with patterns will attract the eye to the area with the pattern. If you have a part of your body that looks particularly good, you can use patterned clothing to emphasize that part of you.

The tightness of clothing should ultimately decide on your body type. However, really baggy clothing has never been a good look on anyone, and will add unwanted years to your look.

3. Plan outfits by colour-matching. The colour wheel is familiar to every fashion designer. Some colours complement others better than others. If you want to have a truly impressive sense of style, you need to factor colour into consideration when planning out your outfits. The colour wheel offers an easy visual representation of what generally works and what doesn't.

On the other hand, you can intentionally try to match colours that normally conflict with one another. Ultimately, each outfit plays by its own rules, and you can experiment to your heart's content if you so choose.

4. Accessorize your look. Whether you're a boy or a girl, you can say a lot about yourself through accessorizing your look. A single piece of jewelry can say a ton about someone. The same goes for a pin or a small tattoo. Small additions to your clothing can be a big help if uniqueness is important to you.

Look into getting patches and pins for clothing like handbags, backpacks and jackets. Something simple like a band patch could be enough to strike up a conversation between you and a future friend.

5. Evolve your style over time. Fashion changes fast. Although you should never try to keep up to date with all of the trends, you shouldn't hesitate to switch up your style from time to time. This will keep you feeling refreshed in your fashion decisions. What's more, people who see you on a regular basis will be giving you a renewed look if your style's always in flux.

If you notice a new trend you think looks good, you should try to work it into your appearance.

If something in your wardrobe is getting boring, you can set it aside and switch for something else.

6. Wear what you want. Ultimately, your youth is a time that should be about doing what you want and expressing yourself. At the end of the day, you should dress as you see fit. Though you may have to make concessions in some cases like work, you should always try to work a bit of yourself into whatever outfit you choose.

Part 3 Taking Budget into Consideration.

1. Host a swap party. Many people in their 20s unfortunately don't have much money to work with. This is why a swap party can be useful. A swap party is a gathering where people bring clothing they don't wear much anymore and trade it with other people for their used sets of clothing.

This will allow you to spruce up your wardrobe with fresh styles at no cost other than the things you no longer wear.

2. Visit a consignment store. Consignment stores are essentially trading posts for clothes. You can sell your old clothing and buy clothing used. While it may sound less-than-desirable for somebody who is wanting to look their best, you might be surprised what sort of finds you can fish out in a consignment store. Consignments are especially good if you want to be fashionable on a budget. Better still, you can sell old clothes you don't use as a discount for your new batch.

Alternatively, there are thrift stores and bargain clothing shops you can visit for similar finds.

Not all bargain clothes shopping is necessarily used. Outlet stores often emphasize sales, and you can find unworn clothing at a discount by visiting.

3. Keep an eye out for sales. If you're young and running on a tighter budget than you'd like, it can help a lot to wait for great sales. Big department stores will usually have at least a few great sales a year where they try to sell as much product as possible. Sometimes you can get new clothing for as much as 50% off. Being a smart shopper will save you bundles in the long run, regardless of the age you are.

This rule applies to online shopping as well. Sales such as Cyber Monday are specifically catered to the online marketplace. While you should be wary of size issues when it comes to getting clothes online, you can get a wider variety of clothes more conveniently than by shopping in person.

Tips.

Dressing well is one thing, but that doesn't encompass your whole appearance. Keeping up with good hygiene and using positive body language can arguably do more for your image than a new skirt or jacket.

How to Select a Plus Size Wardrobe.

This brief guide will provide you with all the guidance you need to craft a wonderful plus size wardrobe from just the right selection of plus size apparel. If you follow the steps in this guide you will find yourself getting more compliments on how fabulous your apparel looks and less on having your friends stage a fashion intervention.

Steps.

1. Ditch Unshapely Plus Size Clothing Looks. Do not be satisfied with shapeless oversize outfits ever again. Ungraceful clothing hides your complete appearance positive and unfavorable. Find clothing styles that highlight the best fuller shape attributes and disguise those you do not prefer. Garments missing the proper tailoring are almost always going to make your shape seem larger than it actually is.

2. Black Is Not the Most Flattering or Slimming Color for Fuller Shapes. Black colored pants, clothes, skirts and other plus size clothing is not necessarily the most slimming or figure flattering on a woman's body. A desirable outfit is as much about appropriate styling, tailoring and general fashion as it is about hue. Monotone shaded apparel can be nearly as flattering, or even more, than plain old dull black. Using additional colors around your face will bring focus to your skin shade, face shape and eye coloring. Black is liable to wash out most skin color. Stores where you'll find the right little black gown in plus sizes are Kiyonna Klothing, Avenue and Zaftique.

3. Try Buying Online To Order Apparel Stores with Plus Sizes and Designer Variations. Don't worry too much if the local shop doesn't carry a large enough variety of plus size clothing within their fashion selection, designs and sizes that you like. Try internet shopping at among the list of various girls clothing website pages exclusively personalized to the needs to plus size figured ladies. There are lots of clothing designers that provide their designs only on the Internet. Listed here are a couple of my favorites: Catherines, Arden B., Jessica London. If you like a little more current or sexy style, try Torrid or Size Appeal.

4. Tapered Pants and Denim Jeans Don't Look Good on Any Woman, Plus Sized or Skinny. Just because pant in addition to jean creative designers continue to carry tapered leg pant fashions for gals does not mean you have to wear them. A plus size shape, or any body for that matter, is not complimented by the ice cream cone shape of a tapered leg pant. Choose from streamline pant shape that's a straight leg from you hip right down to the floor. This goes for women's denim too. If your hips or butt happen to be an issue area for you, try selecting a plus size jean that slightly flares out at the bottom to balance the volume along the hip. A straighter or mildly flared leg pant will elongate your legs having them look longer than they really are. Add an incredible pointy-toe high heeled (search by wide width size here) shoe for even more long legged illusion. To seek out a great pair of designer denims, try Lane Bryant.

5. Avoid All Over, Jumbo Motifs in Your Dress Fabric. I have noticed a frightful trend in some variety store plus size apparel sections- gowns and other apparel with HUGE all over shapes and designs. First things first, I wouldn't recommend a whole outfit of all one pattern with no solid coloration to break it up(unless it's a dress, of course). Secondly, make certain the pattern you do go with is going to incorporate within your wardrobe and doesn't overwhelm your height. The size of the pattern should match the proportions of the gal.[3] For anybody who is tall, you call pull off a larger pattern. Should you be petite, choose less massive prints to avoid overwhelming your outfit with pattern. If you would like to include more decorative fabrics into your wardrobe, my best advice would be to pick one clothing article per outfit to have a pattern (like a skirt, top or jacket, not all three). For elegantly decorative plus size clothes my personal favorite plus size store is Coldwater Creek.

6. Large Size Petites Should Not Seek Tops, Jackets and Sweaters That Are Constructed To Rest Below the Hip. A shorter body frame can look even shorter with overly long plus size tops, jackets and sweaters. Tops that go below the hip level on a petite shape will start to shorten the look of your legs all the more. A top or coat that shops just at the hip bone will elongate your smaller legs to their longest character. Sorry ladies, but the longer sweaters and jackets really only enhance a taller plus size frame. Shops that stock tall and petite plus sizes are Lane Bryant, Chadwicks of Boston, and Newport News.

7. An Ideal Fitting, Full Figured Bra Is Important To Every Last Plus Size Wardrobe. I know we already listened to it on Oprah, but I must tell you once more that 75% of all women are wearing the incorrect size bra. YIKES! Having a fuller figured bosom brings along its own set of specific issues such as bra straps digging into your shoulders and back, saggy appearance to breasts, and cup spillage (i. e. the dreaded two bubble outcome). Many of these issues can be solved by purchasing the right size plus size bra and the good thing is that there are numerous stores online that supply especially to plus size girls. Try going to a department store or specialty bra shop to be perfectly sized for a bra. If you are shopping for a new bra size in bulk, consider online bra websites that are fitted with your size more available and at better prices. A few of my personal favorite merchants for plus size bras and intimates are Just My Size, Bare Necessities, Fig Leaves and Hips and Curves.

8. Appreciate Your Plus Size Body The Way It Is And At Whichever Size. The fact remains whether you like or dislike your plus sized, plump, voluptuous, full figured body type it's a must to clothe it for it's current shape and size. Whether you plan on losing weight sometime soon or want to stay how you are, have the confidence to feel sexy and gorgeous in your CURRENT skin and garments. Find fashion items that make you feel pleasant and gorgeous inside and out.

9. Don't Buy Plus Size Apparel That Are Too Small Or The Wrong Size. All women normally have an idea of what clothing size they are (or what size they'd like to be), but the truth is that every designer and producer of clothing has its own sizing chart. What may be a size 14 in one designer could be a size 16 or 18 in another. Concern yourself about how the clothing fit and flatter your body and less about the silly number on the label. Attire that bunch and pull in locations that are too little will draw unbecoming awareness to that place. The best clothing suppliers have sizing charts with inch measurements to help you choose your personal size at their market and these stores generally have fantastic return policies in case the garments aren't quite right. Here are some stores that carry clothing size 24 and above: Alight, Avenue, Kiyonna Klothing, and Ulla Popken.

10. Women's Fashion accessories Can Make Or Break An Excellent, Classy Outfit. Ordinary looking outfits can even be jazzed up with a bold women's accessory, but take care about not overdoing it. Each outfit needs one unique accessory focus, not a bold bracelet, diamond necklace and earrings that could overwhelm you. The great thing about accents is that there is no need to visit the niche plus sized clothing store for great accents. You could shop at just about any clothing retail store for great bracelets, designer purses, wide width shoes, and scarves to spice up any closet. For impressive designer deals look into eBay, BlueFly. For other classic accessories look at Macy's and Nordstrom.

FAQ.

Q : I'm going to go on a vacation to Thailand. What should I wear and what should I bring?

A : Thailand during the Summer is very hot and humid, so dresses and shorts are recommended, The Winter doesn't get too cold, so pack in preparation for roughly 50 degree Fahrenheit temperatures.

Q : I am going to Hawaii for my forty second anniversary. What should I wear as we are going on tours. I am in my late 60's.

A : This is very easy to pack for -- 1 pair of plain or white pants, 1 pair of dark pants. Tops and feminine tee-shirts to go with the pants. (If you're athletic, you can do sports in the dark top/pants.) One "boho" type long, billowy, bright, cotton dress that you could literally wear anywhere, to do anything in. If your luggage was lost, you could live and sleep in this. It should have some "bangles" and "sparkles," on it, so that if you and your beloved want to go into a "lounge," you could wear it there. One pair of comfortable, serviceable, safe sandals; one pair of "Nike's" or whatever. Plus what you'd usually take nightie, bathrobe, undies, bra.

Q : How do I pick a dress that's attractive and slimming?

A : Don't create horizontal lines: belts, bands and horizontal stripes are out. Stick with a solid color, simple cut, with sleeves to at least the elbow at least. This will make you look tall. Use a scarf, necklace, or small collar for drawing attention to your face.

Q : I'm a plus size teenager, and I get really confused when it comes to dressing according to my body type. How can I find stylish clothes that flatter my figure?

A : I am also a plus size teen, and I find that a pair of high-waisted skinny jeans and a crop top to accentuate your waist looks great on anyone. I also think that you should wear what makes you feel comfortable and not worry about other people's views (I know it can be hard). I usually wear what other people my age are wearing because then I don't stick out, but as long as you like what you're wearing, then anything you wear is stylish.

Q : I am a plus-sized woman. My bust, belly, and hips are large, and my waist is smaller by comparison. I used to wear belts to draw attention to my waist, but now they make my belly stand out. Help?

A : Ok, you need to use that belt! It does not matter about the tummy -- many people find a full figure with a small waist very attractive. Make sure you choose a low V neck for the top and favor dresses that are loose and floaty with the waist in a belt. Experiment with fun belt types: red ones and ones with big buckles or gold details will draw the eye to your waist. Stand up as tall as possible and stick that chest out! Look confident and the world will see you as sexy and attractive.

How to Be Stylish Without Spending a Lot of Money.

Bargain shopping can be turned into an art. Once you've mastered it, your closet will be full of cute and affordable clothes that express your unique personality and style. There are numerous ways to shop on a budget, and it might take a little experimenting to see which method of bargain shopping is best for you.

Part 1 Shopping at Affordable Stores.

1. Shop at discount stores. These are the best stores to shop at when you're looking for designer brands and current trends at friendly prices. They normally carry clothes that are in season and offer a huge variety. These stores get new inventory all the time, so visit every couple of weeks to check out all of the new merchandise.

Some examples of these stores are Marshall's, T.J.Maxx, DSW, Sears, and Burlington Coat Factory. You can find these stores in almost every city, so go online to find the discount stores near you.

When a major designer produces more items than it can sell at department stores, off-price retailers, otherwise known as discount stores, buy the merchandise at discounted prices. Then, they pass these savings onto customers. This is how you're able to save money shopping at these stores.

Full-priced department stores have the option of returning merchandise to clothing manufacturers if it doesn’t sell, but discount stores’ purchases are final. Because of this, they must sell everything they have in stock. This makes sale prices astoundingly low.

2. Go thrifting for clothes. Shopping at thrift stores is an awesome way to save money and find one-of-a-kind pieces. Thrifting isn't as glamorous as most shopping experiences – thrift stores can be dirty, dusty, and extremely cluttered. But if you're willing to dedicate some time to thoroughly look, you just might find some gems.

Thrift stores are cheaper than any other store or sale rack. You might find less clothing to buy, but the pieces you do find will be unique and affordable.

Thrifting will allow you to include some other fashion eras in your wardrobe. Good fashion is timeless, so adding some vintage pieces will enhance your closet.

3. Visit an outlet mall. Outlet malls carry discounted clothing from past seasons, or clothing from current seasons that isn't selling well in retail stores. And, while already discounted, outlet stores have sales too. The sale price of an already discounted item is a great way to be stylish while saving money.

When you walk into an outlet mall store, there will be beautiful displays just like in a traditional retail store. Instead of shopping here, head to the clearance racks to get the best deals.

Outlet malls tend to become a whole day affair so make sure you allot yourself enough time to shop.

Some "deals" at outlets really aren’t that great. Don’t take the stores word for something; that shirt may only be $4 cheaper than retail, despite their advertising.

4. Stick to the sale rack. Every time you enter a store, go directly to the sale rack. These will become one of your favorite places to shop. Visit your current favorite stores, as well as stores you may not normally go into. The more places you try, the better luck you will have. Most department stores usually have a few huge sales a year, and most other stores you can find in the mall have a sale rack or two in the back. You will learn to live there; it’s a quaint neighborhood really.

Be wary of the return policy for on-sale items; they’re usually different.

Don’t be ashamed to be cheap. Have no shame in walking straight past all the regular-priced items to the sale racks. Saving money is smart.

5. Get cheap clothes online. The Internet is the best place to go if you’re in pursuit of a specific item. In addition to sale sections on regular websites, there are countless websites that specialize in discount clothes and overstocked items. You can discover your own lesser known websites simply through doing a little research.

Comparison shop. Use price-comparison sites such as bizrate.com, mysimon.com, and froogle.com to compare the prices of items that are available at various online stores.

Learning what size to order can be a trial and error process. Measuring yourself is a must in the beginning. Start out buying easier items like shirts and shoes before buying harder items like coats, and the ever unpredictable jeans or pants. Don't buy jeans or pants online unless you have tried them on before, but it’s all a judgment call.

Free shipping! Look for sites that offer free shipping. Sometimes shipping is free when you spend a certain amount of money, so pay attention to how much you're spending and be smart with your money.

Security. Make sure the website you're shopping on is secure before giving out any important information. Stick to well-known stores when buying items online. Check your credit card bills to make sure they include only your legitimate purchases.

Part 2 Trading in Your Old Clothing.

1. Exchange your old clothing for new clothing at resale stores. This is a great way to get rid of some of the clothing you no longer wear and replace it with new pieces that you love. You'll typically get a higher trade value than cash for your clothing.

Popular resale stores include Buffalo Exchange, Crossroads, and Plato's Closet. They all have different policies and are looking for different types of clothing. Just because one store doesn't want your clothing doesn't mean all of the stores won't want it.

2. Sell your clothing at resale stores. If you have designer clothes or any other clothes or accessories (sunglasses, shoes, scarves, hats, etc.) that you think could yield a profit, resell them. This will clean out your closet and earn you money to buy new clothes. These stores are more expensive than thrift stores, but still much cheaper than retail. You'll typically get a higher trade value than cash for your clothing.

There are online resale stores as well. With these stores, you'll be able to sell or trade your clothes with other users. Some of these include Poshmark, Twice, and Thredup.

Selling your clothes on Ebay or Craigslist is also an option to consider. This is only recommended if your clothing is designer-made and in good quality.

If you have a lot of stuff to sell with along with your clothes, you could also consider a yard sale. Get a few friends together and see if they want to do a yard sale together.

3. Donate your clothing to thrift stores or charities. Charity is a great way to discard your old clothes (and can usually be used as a tax write-off). You'll be able to clean out your closet to make room for newer purchases. Some thrift stores offer exchanges for donations as well, so be sure to ask when you are donating your clothing.

4. Make your old clothing new again. If you're skilled with a needle and thread – or even a pair of scissors – repurpose your old clothing. If you have pants that fit great in the waist but have become too short in the leg, cut them into shorts! There are even ways to turn old sweaters into purses.

Look online for tutorials on how to repurpose your old clothing. You should be able to find creative ideas and step-by-step instructions. Pinterest is a good place to start.

5. Have a clothing swap party with friends. One of the best ways to get a wardrobe you love is to refresh your closet frequently. Get rid of items that you don’t wear regularly and replace them with new pieces. Host a clothing swap party with friends, and ask everyone to bring clothing and accessories they no longer want. You can get rid of your clothes and get new items for free at the same time.

Part 3 Making Smart Decisions While Shopping.

1. Give yourself a spending budget and stick to it. Shopping on a budget can be difficult – especially when you want everything. However, if you can't afford to splurge, it's important that you give yourself a budget. Be honest with yourself about your finances. Following a budget will allow you to get the essential items that your closet is missing – jeans, basic tops, boots, etc. Once you do this, you'll be able to figure out if you can afford those high heels you've been eyeing.

If you give yourself a budget, you'll be less likely to buy items that you really don't need.

When shopping online, use a price filter. If you cut yourself off from the expensive items, you'll be likely to spend less money.

2. Shop out of season. Doing your shopping during postseason sales is a great way to build your wardrobe on a budget. Take inventory of your closet and determine what you'll need for the upcoming year. Then, create a budget around those seasonal purchases. Buy investment pieces such as business suits in January, purchase winter coats and boots in late February, and load up on swimsuits and summer clothing in late August. Buying these clothes when they're on sale will help you save money, and you'll already have your shopping done for the following year.

3. Don’t be a trend chaser. Even if you avoid splurging on expensive designer pieces, trend-chasing is still a costly habit. Because trends have such quick turnarounds, keeping up with them will break the bank, even if you’re purchasing lower-end clothing. When you stop trend-chasing and focus on fashion, you’ll be able to develop an eye for the basic pieces that you need and the select few trend pieces that make your wardrobe pop. Focusing on fashion will allow you the time to invest in pieces that will last through the years.

If you want a few trendy items that you’ll only wear a few times, hit the clearance racks and outlet malls. This way, you won't be spending the bulk of your clothing budget on items you’ll rarely wear.

4. Don't buy clothing that is “dry clean only.” Whether it’s a cashmere sweater, a pair of polyester pants, or a silk dress, make sure you’re aware of the cleaning instructions of the clothing you’re buying to avoid a big dry cleaning bill each month. Dry clean-only items will end up costing you more to maintain in the long run. Instead, buy high quality but low-maintenance pieces to maximize your closet investment.

5. Have patience. This is a slow moving process in the beginning. Until you discover what stores you like the best, it may seem like time-wasting and frivolous pursuit. Yet, saving money on great clothes can be one of the most satisfying experiences. Buying clothes isn’t a vital aspect to life, but wearing clothes that fit and you love really makes a difference in your self-confidence and overall mood. You don’t always have to buy from the bargain rack (although you have a hard time pulling yourself away), but you can find some truly amazing clothes for even more amazing prices.

6. Pay with cash. When you pay with cash, as opposed to a credit card, you'll physically be able to see how much money you're spending. When you can actually see how much money you have to spend, you'll be more likely to be conservative with your spending. This will result in you purchasing the items you need as opposed to items you simply want.

Using a credit card is an easy way to overspend. When you can't see how much you are spending, money can become an idea as opposed to something real. This can be dangerous if you're trying to watch your budget.

Part 4 Styling Yourself.

1. Replicate stylish looks affordably. You can have expensive taste without spending the big bucks. To get outfit inspiration, window shop at your dream stores, or look through fashion magazines and blogs. Pick out the pieces that you love, and search for similar items when you're out shopping.

Many cheaper brands copy designer looks, so you should be able to find what you're looking for at discount stores or outlet malls. These stores often carry the more affordable sister brands of well-known designers.

Fashion magazines and blogs often offer more affordable substitutions for expensive outfits. When you look at these magazines or blogs online, many of the cheaper alternatives are just one click away. Start browsing to get some styling and shopping ideas.

2. Add some classic pieces to your closet. Classic pieces are those that never go out of style and always look amazing. These pieces usually include jackets, handbags, shoes, and suits / dresses. You should invest a bit more into these pieces, as they can be reused for years to come.

Get a coat or two (A leather jacket or trench coat are great stylish pieces).

A quality handbag will never go out of style. Pick a practical bag in a versatile color (blacks, nudes, browns) to carry on any occasion.

Get a few pairs of shoes that will go with everything. A good pair of flats, boots, and heels (or dress shoes for men). Spending a little more money on a nice pair of shoes will allow them to last for more than one season, and will go with most of the pieces in your closet.

Invest in a little black dress (LBD). The LBD is a wardrobe staple for a woman, and is a classic that should be in your closet. Find a little black dress that you love, and you'll be able to style it tons of different ways by switching up jewelry and shoes.

For men, investing in a nice, quality suit will pay off in the long run. You'll always have a well-fitting suit, and it will never go out of style.

3. Keep versatile basics in your wardrobe. The great thing about basics – they go with everything. Keeping a few basic necessities in your closet will make it easy to stay stylish on a budget, as you'll always have a base for a good outfit.

Get a great fitting pair of jeans. A good pair of jeans will last you for years and can be paired with tons of different options.

Get a few solid black and solid white tops – short sleeved, turtleneck / long sleeved, and tank tops. These colors go with everything and can easily be dressed up or down. They can be paired with jeans, dress slacks, skirts, or shorts.

A go-to pair of black slacks or trousers will greatly enhance your wardrobe. Get a pair that fits you will, and you'll be able to create many outfits.

4. Revamp your older clothes with new additions. Instead of buying entire new outfits, enhance your older clothing with new pieces, new jewelry, or new shoes. Pull out your favorite pair of jeans and give with a new life with a bright blouse (ideally purchased on sale). Or give your old sweater a fresh look with a new pencil skirt or pair of slacks. Buying select items will give your old pieces an entire new look.

Tips.

Don't try to fix your mind on a brand as that will prompt you to spend more money on that particular brand and prevent you from buying clothes from discount or thrift stores.

Some thrift stores, consignment shops, and second-hand stores only take cash or debit cards.

Coupon hunting is always advisable.

Go into a high end store. If you see something you really want, search online and in stores for a similar item, at prices that are a lot cheaper.

Buy in moderation. When the price is right, it's hard to say no. Always ask yourself "Will I wear this regularly? To where? Do I really need it?" If you answer no to any of them, you probably shouldn't buy it.

10 COMMON FASHION MISTAKES WOMEN MAKE.

Looking back at outfit photos from many years ago, I found myself cringing at some of the fashion choices I made! Actually, it was quite humorous, but I found myself grateful that my stylistic sense has evolved and become more mature. Nobody is perfect, especially when it comes down to what to wear. I think any celebrity, blogger, and fashion stylist can agree to that! With that in mind, I wanted to reveal the top 10 most common fashion mistakes women can make, so you can avoid them!

1. Revealing too Much.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a little sex appeal, but be sure to do it tastefully so. Revealing too much skin can actually be off putting, especially in a more demure setting. A dress or skirt too short and tight never looks fashionable, but an open back top/dress or a leg slit in a gown gives off a classy vibe.

2. Wearing the Wrong Size.
One of the most important things to consider when it comes to shopping, is ensuring you are wearing the right size. Ill fitted garments do nothing to flatter the figure – whether they be too small or too baggy. Wearing bottoms too tight will reveal an unappealing muffin top. But a piece that’s too oversized (when it’s not supposed to be) completely drowns you out. You should be wearing the clothes – not the reverse.

3. Not Evolving.
Although fashion has a tendency of repeating themselves, one mistake many women make is not evolving their fashion sense. Do not get caught up in one era for the rest of your life. You can still maintain your sense of style by approaching it with a more modern twist. I don’t believe in limiting yourself too much.

4. Trying Too Hard.
I see someone as trying too hard when they’re wearing all the trends of the season at the same time – or trying to be sexy by showing too much skin. Layering up on trends or bling can actually be distracting from the outfit itself. Plus, it can easily look tacky and gaudy. To avoid this, be selective when choosing your trends for the day. Think about your layers and the juxtaposition of your garments. A fashion-forward outfit is always thoughtful and balanced.

5. Wrong Undergarments.
Many women seem to neglect their undergarments because it is hidden and not something everyone else sees. However, this is a big fashion mistake! Be sure to always have the right underwear when you need to avoid VPLs (visible panty lines). It’s really unattractive when someone is wearing a sheer dress and I can see exactly what they’re wearing underneath.

Additionally, a good push up bra, strapless bra and pasties always come in handy. Sometimes, it’s the only factor needed to elevate your look. Check out my post here for undergarments you need.

6. Not Dressing for the Occasion.
Always know the environment and dress accordingly. The worst thing is to be under or over dressed for a situation. When in doubt, always inquire about the dress code prior to an event so you can plan ahead! Not only will you look awkward, but you will feel awkward – and when that happens, it totally kills the mood. That being said, when in doubt, slightly over dress.

7. Shopping for Instagram.
A new age fashion mistake I see a lot of people committing to is shopping strictly with Instagram in mind. Too many people nowadays are focused on what is trending, what will encourage more engagement, and less about what clothing they actually like. To me, that defeats the entire purpose of having a true personal style – and being influential through your style.

8. Not Dressing for Your Body Type.
It takes a real woman of grace to confront and own up to her body. There are a lot of things we all want to wear, but it’s most important to find the right piece that accentuates your body. For example, when buying culottes or midi skirts, consider where the garment cuts off.
You never want it to cut off on the widest part of your calves. My rule of thumb is to go just under the knees or 3/4 of the way down. Also, when wearing cropped trousers or jeans, make sure the hem cuts off above the ankle. If you go at the ankle or just an inch off the ground, you may end up looking like you’re wearing high waters. Us shorter gals will also want to pair these kinds of crops with heels!

9. Not Paying Attention to the Details.
One of the most common fashion mistakes I see is when women fail to pay attention to details. Over worn heels never look good when you’re walking. If the soles of your shoes need to be repaired, it’s worth hiring a shoe cobbler. Make sure your heel tips aren’t worn down either otherwise you can damage your shoes. And pay attention to tags sticking out or threads coming through tops that need trimming. Failing to do so can look very rudimentary.

10. Dressing for Anyone Other Than Yourself
It’s crucial to understand that women only dress for themselves. We should not focus our mindset on trying to get the attention of another person, impressing someone, or pretending to be someone we are not. And worst of all, do not feel the need to compete with another woman – or “show them up”. Above all, we dress to feel confident, love ourselves and enjoy the art of fashion. The best accessory is truly confidence and the strength to hold your head high.

Which of these fashion mistakes have you been guilty of?

How to Look Great on a Budget.

Yes, Clinique and Calvin Klein are great...if you have money. For the rest of us, off-brand products will have to do. The good news is that they can make you look great if you know what to buy and where to buy it.

Steps.

1. Ignore trends. They change almost by the hour so it will be costly. Instead, focus on defining your own individual style. Being unique is hotter than being a carbon copy of a fashion magazine.

2. Only wear what looks good on you - if you're long-waisted with a soft tummy, don't wear low-waisted pants. Instead, go for a pencil skirt - classic, and thus always in fashion, plus (bonus!) you get the illusion of a perfectly proportioned figure. A mix of trendy pieces and classics always looks classier and more elegant than an entire wardrobe of fashion-magazine items.

3. Go to the drugstore for beauty and hygiene products. The options there are greater than that of most supermarkets, and cheaper than that of most specialty stores.

4. Be thrifty with hair products. If you must splurge, do so on conditioner. Never use any more shampoo or conditioner than a dime-sized amount unless you have long hair. And be sure to also cut off split ends.

5. Check out thrift stores. They can be a huge, mostly untapped resource. Go to ones in college towns where young people move often and may get rid of clothing only a year or two old. Also look for outlet stores. Again, even though the clothing is cheap, look for things that look great on you, not just things that "fit ok."

6. Buy the basic things. Get some basic items like white t-shirts, skinny jeans, things that you can pair with other accessories and clothes to make them seem new and different every time you wear them. Don't buy a shirt if it only goes with one outfit.

7. Be creative: altering and mending old clothes/clothes from the thrift store can be great fun. Check out the section here at wikiHow.

8. Don't go for the super-expensive jeans. Others will never see a difference between a $25 pair and a $125 pair. However, be aware that sometimes you do get what you pay for: at least some of the price of designer jeans reflects the quality of the cut, the stitching and the fabric.

9. Invest in good timeless pieces: splurging on your favorite jeans or boots can be an investment for years.

10. Don't worry about where you shop - the important thing is whether the item fits, is flattering and a good color. Even low-priced bargain stores (even Walmart!) can accidentally make something good, so always have an eye out.

11. Shop for off-season clothing. Look for end of the season clearance sales. Also look for before and after Christmas sales but be aware that, even at a deep discount, some clothes may not be worth the price. Know ahead of time how much you intend to spend on something and try to stick with it.

12. Look for versatility. For example, look for a button down shirt that looks good open over a t-shirt or buttoned under a sweater. Extra points if it also looks good tucked into dress pants or a skirt for fancy occasions!

13. Make sure your new clothes are machine washable. Trips to the dry-cleaners can eat up money for gas and service, and no one likes doing their laundry by hand.

14. Go to a discount chain for your trendy shoes - you can get cheap, fun stuff there, because you don't need it to last more than a season or two. But for basics you'll wear every season (basic pumps, black boots that you can wear and look good in the winter, simple strappy sandals), buy good-to-excellent models that are seriously comfortable, in real leather rather than fake, and buy the oils and polishes too so you can keep them in good condition. Try remnant department stores like TJ Maxx for good-quality shoes at discount prices.

15. Stick with the basics for makeup: mascara, lip gloss, blush, concealer, and maybe some liner and shadow. Especially if you have problems with acne or dry skin, a good-quality foundation for sensitive skin (applied with a very light hand on the sponge) is a worthy place to splurge, and really contributes to a polished look. Bad foundation makes the prettiest woman look trashy and tired, and good foundation lifts your whole look.

16. Use men's shaving cream. It's much cheaper than women's lotion and gels. Shaving with shampoo or conditioner also does the trick.

17. Have a black, a brown, and some summery shade (white is classic, but a pale gray or a subtle metallic can actually be more versatile) of purse - they don't need to match your shoes.

Tips.

Buy what's on sale (Only if you need it). Variety is the spice of life.

As terrible as Goodwill and the Salvation Army are made out to be, they are a terrific places for cheaper clothing, even compared to thrift stores.

If you can sew (and even if you can't) don't be afraid to alter clothing. If you have an old pair of jeans that are beat up on the bottom but the waist still fits then rip out the inseam and make a mini skirt. Got a pair of pants that are too long? Hem them yourself. If you can't sew use those iron on strips or (for a temporary fix) use duct tape to tape them up on the inside. Also, try rolling then up so that the cuff is on the inside.

Search the web to find out what products are available. Just because it's not heavily advertised doesn't mean it's not good.

At thrift stores, if the purse you HAVE TO HAVE is there, but it has a rip in it, offer a lower price on it. Generally, they'll let you have it to make you happy, so you'll come back, or even just to make the sale. Most clothing is slightly marked up from value, even at thrift stores. Don't be afraid to bargain.

Download beauty apps and tutorials for only a dollar or two for an affordable way to get instructions on how to look hot.

Consider forgoing a gym membership and work out at home instead. Unless you're very serious, some dumbbells, exercise instructions off the internet, and a jog around the block are just as good.

Try not to buy clothing unless you actually need it. Just because something is on sale doesn't mean you're saving money unless you would have bought it anyway.

Use what you already have. A $7 bottle of shampoo is cheaper than a $3 bottle of shampoo, if you already own it.

Don't forget about your friends! You can borrow, use, and swap their clothes.

Remember, it doesn't matter how expensive an item is if you wear it a lot and it's expensive then it was worth your money.

How to Dress for Your Body Type.

Women come in all shapes and sizes, so how do you find clothes that are flattering your specific body type? The key is to know your proportions, and use fashion to accentuate your best features--and hide everything else!

Part 1 Identifying Your Body Type.

1. Determine what type shape your body is. Pay attention to your curves. Look at how they connect your bust, waist, and hips.

The body types below describe women's bodies, not a girl who has not gone through puberty. Although it is sometimes possible to determine body type prior to maturity, it is only after growing a bust, hips, and so on that it will become evident.

Measure the sizes of your bust, waist, and hip. Depending on the size of each part (in inches), you can determine which shape your body is to find clothes that properly fit.

There is no "best" or "worst" body type. A certain type may be fashionable in your particular locale, at this period in time, but this does not mean your body type is "bad".

All body types have pros and cons. Knowing your body type is about dressing to look your best.

Even model's bodies fall into one of these categories.

2. See if you have an apple body type. Generally described as "top-heavy", this is generally about 14 percent of women where the bust is three or more inches bigger than the hips. Just by looking at yourself in the mirror, you can see if you are an apple body type.

Slim limbs, specifically the arms, but wide shoulders are usually a strong characteristic of this body type.

Weight is concentrated around your midsection and chest, giving the appearance of a bigger bust and protruding stomach, at times.

If you naturally have a smaller bust, then weight can gather around your midriff.

Just below the midsection, your waistline can have little definition, thus giving rise to the “top-heavy” description of this body type.

Though your top may be on the heavier side, your legs should be slimmer.

3. Consider whether you are a "pear" type. Being the opposite of an apple body type means you are a pear body type. This one is bottom-heavy (or triangle) with about 20 percent of women having hips significantly larger than bust.

You’ll notice if this is your body quite quickly, as your lower body: hips, thighs, and sometimes your behind are more noticeable.

Shoulders are narrower, sloping, and not as broad.

Usually described as the most “curvaceous” body. It’s a simple one to notice just by looking at your legs as they are sometimes noticeably more wider, muscular, and fuller compared to the rest of your body.

4. Consider whether you're a straight/rectangular body type. About 46 percent of women are this shape where the waist is about the same as hips and bust. Your silhouette isn’t as curvy as the pear or apple bodies. Instead, you’ll look fairly straight up with flat shoulders.

Unlike the prior two body types; the best way to determine for a rectangular type is to measure. Upon measuring, you’ll notice that your waist is one to eight inches smaller than your bust.

Standing straight up, you should not notice any significant curves around the waist area.

Your rib cage will define most of your shape, as there will be no waist definition to add curves.

Despite being rectangular, you may still have a curvy bottom (similar to a pear bottom), or a wide chest with a little bit of extra weight around the midriff.

5. Look at whether you have an hourglass body. This is the least common with only 8 percent of women. The hip and bust measurements are usually equal, with a narrow waist.

The defining characteristic of hourglass figure is a significantly defined waist with more or less proportional top and bottom.

Hourglass shapes tend to be "curvy" both on top and on the bottom.

You can still have an hourglass body even when: slightly fleshy upper arms, wider looking shoulders, or a slightly fuller bottom.

6. Know that body shape is largely pre-determined, but can be modified somewhat by diet and exercise. Your genetics do determine how body fat is carried on the body; and cannot be altered. However, if you are not carrying around excessive weight, your body type will not be quite as exaggerated or obvious. Slender women look more similar to each other than obese women.

You cannot "Spot Reduce". Toning a certain body part is possible--you can do core exercises to help flatten abdominal muscles. But your body will not do it in just one place. On women, the change is most dramatic around your chest, hips, and posterior, whether you want it to be or not.

You cannot "Spot Increase". Muscle tone can be increased, and can cosmetically make a difference. Doing chest exercises or using skin creams will not make your bust larger. While chest exercises firm and tone up the bust line, this will not actually increase breast tissue.

Certain body types have a predisposition to gain or lose weight in certain areas. For example, a woman with an hourglass figure will tend to gain or lose weight in the bust and hips, and not the waist. But a woman with an apple shape will tend to gain in the hips, and not so much in the bust--even if it is the same amount of body weight.

Cardio and resistance training are most commonly used to alter body types. By knowing if you retain fat more or lose it quicker, you can create an exercise plan to cater to your bodily needs.

Remember that clothes are meant to flatter your body, so take care when choosing garments. Even a model with an "ideal" body type will not look good in everything. When a designer is putting together a photo shoot or runway show, they pick the model that best shows off the clothes...models are not interchangeable.

What is the ideal body type changes through history. In America during the Victorian period, the "Hourglass" was perfection, and required women to don corsets to get that look. In the 1920s, the ideal woman's body was the boyish "Rectangular" type requiring women to wear girdles and flattening larger chests.

Different cultures and subcultures see different body types as ideal. An African-American woman in America may be praised for a shapely, round posterior. However, the same quality in a woman in Japan may not be.

7. Look at your genetics. Family genes play a large role in your body type. Look at other women in your family to see a common trend. If the women in your family tend to have a certain body type, chances are good you do as well. Remember, it is not just your mother's family, but your father's as well!

Part 2 Dressing Each Body Type.

1. Dress for the apple body type. To dress successfully for the apple body, you need to direct attention away from your midriff, and wear clothes to accentuate other parts.

Follow your bodyline and keep details on the top and lower third of your body. With this body type, it is easy to wear shirts, blouses or dresses with slight V-necks with out looking too fancy or over the top.

Draw attention away from your waist and shoulders/arms (wear long sleeves), and draw attention to your bust and neck (e.g. v-necks).

Choose flared pants over straight-leg or skinny pants, and to help balance out wide shoulders and/or a heavy upper body. Wear bottoms just below your hipbone to draw attention away from your midriff.

Avoid dresses and belts that pinch at your waist. This will most likely accentuate curves that you may not wish to show off.

Wear tops that drape over any curves if you wish.

Enhancing a feature that is further away or you can cover it with dark colors.

2. Dress for a pear body type. The trick to dressing this body type is to wear anything that adds to your shoulder and bust area. Keep attention to your upper body, by minimizing the lower half.

If you’re a pear body-type, there are things you can do to make your hips and butt look slimmer, if you want to make their butts bigger!

Balance your top with your bottom. Try to wear tops that accentuate your shoulders a bit more.

Avoid pants or tights that narrow your legs.

Wearing a bra that adds to or enhance your bust should be considered.

Wear straight-leg or slightly flared pants with heels. Skinny pants that hug your ankles can make your lower body take on the appearance of an upside-down triangle. Flared pants can make your legs look very thick, perhaps bowl-legged, in comparison to your upper body.

3. Dress for a straight or rectangular body type. With this body type, you may have a long, thin body that tends to lack curves. It is sometimes referred to as a "boyish" profile. Your aim is to wear clothes that flatter your thin profile, break up, your silhouette, and create curves that move up and down from the waist area.

If you have this body type, you can "pinch" in your waist to exaggerate curves. For example, add a belt to your dress.

Go for ruffles and frills to add texture, volume, and femininity to your figure. For instance, a dress with a lot of embellishment at the bust will often give some "weight" there that makes that area look a bit bigger.

Steer clear of menswear clothing. For example, dressing in baggy jeans and track clothes will make you look like "one of the boys", but not a potential girlfriend. Instead, opt for the skinny jeans that are made for your body type, and wear track clothing made for women at your workout session.

Stock up on miniskirts and bright tights to make the most of your great legs. They will also add more shape to a straight body.

Use shapewear. A rectangular body type benefits from shaping undergarments. For example, a bra that adds a cup size will balance out your angular features without much effort at all.

4. Dress an hourglass body. Avoid anything that makes you look "boxy"! You have admirable curves, so embrace them.

Use your waist as the focal point when dressing. This means to wear snug clothes and accessories around the thinnest part of your waist. Directing attention here will make your curves stand out even more.

Dress to flatter your beautiful curves by following your body’s outline. Tailored clothing is usually more flattering. Shapeless or drape-y clothing tends to over-focus on the bust and make hourglass shapes look heavy or pregnant.

Balance your top and bottom while accentuating your waist. Draw attention to your waist with belts and dresses that pinch at the midsection.

Women with curves can end up revealing too much bust. If a neckline is too deep, or is inappropriate leave those clothes on the rack.

Shape your bust. If you have an hourglass shape, you probably have plenty of bust; your main concern should be to wear a supportive bra so that your chest looks perky, not droopy and saggy.

Embrace V-neck dresses and tops. While many necklines work well for well-endowed women, V-necks are typically quite flattering. Just be sure you do not show more cleavage than appropriate to the situation.

Question : How should I dress up myself to be cute if I am ugly and fat? I have a rectangular body, I think.
Answer : Firstly, do not get into the idea that you are ugly and fat. You are beautiful no matter what body shape you possess. Always dress with what you're comfortable in and don't dress to impress others. If you are happy with what you're wearing, then wear it. Follow some of the tips given in the article for the type of clothes that would compliment your rectangular-shaped body.

Question : What if your body has more than one prominent feature and you don't fit just one body type profile?
Answer : Body types aren't clearly defined and it's possible to be slightly in between the two. Try incorporating tips for each body type, and seeing what looks best on you. Ask a fashion-conscious friend or family member for a second opinion if you're unsure.

Question : What if I seem to have a mix of two different body types?
Answer : Many women don't necessarily fall directly into one category or another. For eample, you might have some of the characteristics of an apple body type but also be more of a square, only to find that the things recommended for a square body type really don't work for you. Weight and height can be a factor as well; for example, using the previous example, if you're very petite, you'd likely find that someone with your same measurements who is taller would probably need to dress more like the square figure. When you fall between two types, it is recommended that you compare the two types that you seem closest to, and try things from both -- stick with the clothes that you know look best on you then.

Question : What type of garments should I wear to make my shoulder look less broad?
Answer : Try wearing shirts with wider straps; if you wear thin straps (such as spaghetti straps) your shoulders will look even broader. Three-quarter length sleeves are also very flattering for broad shoulders. Lastly, consider a top with a higher neckline; many women with broad shoulders find them to be very flattering as well.

Question : What clothes should I wear if I have a big bottom?
Answer : High-waisted jeans look really good if you want to "show off" your butt, loose skirts and dresses work very well if you want to hide it.

Question : I have an hourglass figure, but I don't have a very large bust. What does this make me?
Answer : It means you are a pear, unless your shoulders are considerably wide. Then, you would still technically look like an hourglass figure.

Question : I'm 5'3 and more of an hourglass figure than a pear figure, but my butt is still a bit larger than my bust. How would I dress fashionably?
Answer : I have the same issue. Wear high-waisted jeans and skirts. Wide-shouldered jackets can make you look more like an hourglass. Also, if you would like to even out your bust and butt you can wear a push-up bra.

Question : I'm almost 13 and my breasts aren't really developing yet. I am a bit short but I have a noticeable bottom and hips. What do I wear? What shape am I?
Answer : You are likely apple or pear shaped. I would suggest wearing loose shirts and tight pants, like leggings or skinny jeans.

Question : I'm 13; my breasts are almost the same size as my hips. My waist is smaller, but I have large arms. What shape am I?i
Answer : Presumably hourglass. Brilliant! You can wear potentially anything, but high-waisted jeans and long-sleeved crop tops would suit you pretty well.

Question : I am 5 foot 4 inches, weight 7 stone 2 lbs, but have very short legs. What should I wear?
Answer : High-waisted jeans and short tops help. Also make sure to wear tailored tops that have nice cuts around the top area. And above all, keep it simple. Don't overdo the makeup. Wear wedges as these really suit people with curves or short legs. Don't wear flat or neat small shoes or trainers, as these make your feet look smaller and are not flattering for short legs.

Tips.

No matter your body type, making your legs look longer is generally flattering.

If you're a petite woman (short and skinny), avoid full-length coats and maxi dresses - they'll just swamp you. Choose cropped jackets, shorts, and mini dresses to keep your petite frame in perfect proportion. Dressing in one color or wearing vertical stripes will make you look taller. Try high heels too! # Elongate your legs.

Book yourself a professional bra fitting; it's life-changing and will make your chest look fantastic!

Consider all your options. Don’t be so quick to turn something down because you aren’t used to wearing it. Step outside your comfort zone every now and then!

Choose colors and patterns wisely. If there are any curves, handles, or lumps that you'd prefer to hide, wear solid dark colors (black, navy, dark purple) over them.

Wear bright colors or patterns on your hot spots to draw attention away from your trouble spots!

Dresses or tops that wrap around your waist and cross over your chest are only a good idea if you have an ample bust; otherwise, it can make your bust look disproportionately tiny (if you're pear-shaped) or your chest and shoulders look flat and square (if you're straight-shaped).

If you have a flat stomach and aren't shy about showing it, cropped tops will make your chest look a little bigger in relation to your waist.

Off the shoulder tops look best on hourglass and rectangular girls, while turtlenecks look good on pear and apple shaped girls.
